How much does a stairlift cost?

This can depend on the shape and size of your staircase as well as the model of the stairlift you choose. Also, this can depend on whether you are interested on a new or reconditioned stairlift, or even a rental option for short term use. How long does installation take and will there be any mess?

Depending on whether your rail needs to be straight or curved, and is of standard size or custom built you can expect a lead time of anything from 7-10 days for a simple build or 4-6 weeks for something more bespoke. On the day of installation our engineers will be in and out usually within a few hours, cleaning up after themselves and leaving no mess.

How is the stairlift fitted?

A common misconception is that stairlifts are fitted to the wall. They are actually attached to the stairs utilising special brackets and fixed through the stair treads.

How is the stairlift powered?

The stairlift is immediately powered by a rechargeable battery pack that is recharged from the mains when the lift is at a standstill. The low voltage motor will use energy equivalent to that of boiling a kettle and in the event of a power cut will hold enough power for a further 6 to 12 trips before recharge is needed.

What are the weight restrictions?

This can obviously depend on the make and model of your lift however generally a standard rating is approximately 115kg (18 ½ st) with some allowing up to 160kg (25 ½ st).

Can two people share the same stairlift?

Yes. Most modern makes of stairlift have a function to send and call the lift. These are often either fitted to the wall or in a hand held device allowing a person to call the lift if it is not at the station that they require.

Does the equipment come with a warranty?

Yes. All of our installations are covered by a 12 months parts and labour warranty as standard.

What are the advantages of a new stairlift over a reconditioned one?

Obviously this can come down to personal preference. A new stairlift will be covered by a longer warranty, will likely utilise any new feature advances in the field and sourcing any spare parts should a repair be necessary at anytime may prove easier. Alternatively, a reconditioned stairlift can be considerably cheaper and depending on the actual age of the product, parts and features may not be that much of an issue.

When does it make sense to rent a stairlift?

We like to offer the option to rent a stairlift for our customers who may see their disability as a temporary issue. For example, if you have been in an accident and may only need assistance while you complete a course of rehabilitation or are currently in the process of moving house, maybe to a more suitable bungalow, then rental would likely be the most feasible option.
